This may have been discussed before. The last few of my hunts I have noticed deer like to skirt around hilltops and not over them. I was always under the assumption they went over them. Anyone else observe the same? This observation has made me realize that a certain funnel exists near hill tops. Cant wait to see if this holds true for the rut.

That is a saddle where the deer trail goes through and yes, they use them during the rut. Path of least resistance.

You cannot invade mainland America. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

If there is a good food source on the top of the hill, like corn or beans deer will go to the top. If the hill top is just more of the same, like all timber, they will normally squirt around. Hill tops are the most agriculture friendly areas in hill country so I often see corn and beans on the hill tops were I hunt.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Yes. They generally take the intermediate path that doesn't allow them to be skylined. This applies to gentle topography too.
