Pine island wildlife area.

Unread postby PredatorTC » Mon Sep 30, 2013 2:35 am

Right now I'm here at Pine Island wildlife area near portage, looking for a cwd doe. Does anyone hunt this area? I have gotten out of the car a few times and I'm not seeing much for tracks or sign. I have the whole day to figure out a good place to set up tonight and by the looks of it I might not be sticking around here? anyone from this area? Advice?

Check out this area... The area to the South and East are private crop fields. Should have a lot of doe in this area.

Looks like you have to drive south on Schepp Road under I-90 and then left on Hein Road. This eventually heads south into the area Dan marked. I got this from the DNR Lands mapping site.

Or take Hwy 33 toward Baraboo off I90, North on Cty Hwy U, then hang a right on Hein Rd until it dead ends. I would walk it straight South until you hit the huge ag fields. Then walk back to the East... there is a nice inside corner where the woods necks down. You are really doing a ton of work for a doe when you could have asked for help in the area ahead of time!

There are much easier areas to smash a doe!

Yes the trail marked is.... but the ag fields are not... you should be able to walk the edge no problem

Outlined public in red for ya... I know on your phone can be hard to navigate and tell.... plus you are in a not so good cell area..

FYI - a SW wind is not the best for this setup but maybe you can make it work on a slickhead

Take Hwy 33 back to West into Baraboo... gas station just past Thunderbird Motel on right registers deer...

You'll need to hustle if you shoot one at last light. That station closes at 9pm.

I have not been on all day, I'm a little disappointed because I would have met you for lunch or something. The area that Dan highlighted is a good area. How did u do?
