To pee or not to pee, That is the question.

When nature calls do you pee off the stand, hold it and hope for the best, reach for that empty water bottle, or leave the stand all together?

I let it fly. I even pee on scrapes, just to find those scrapes tore up more a few days later.

I let er fly from stand all the time. If deer smell the pee they already smelled me so I don't waste time peeing in a bottle.

This is one thing you can 100% eliminate from giving up your stand site.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

If I'm mobile and moving on after that sit I let it fly. On some of my presets I used to have I would go in a pee bag or a bottle trying to minimize scent left in area.

Let her fly right off the stand. Mammal urine, ours and theirs, converts to ammonia very rapidly. I've had a doe with fawns stop 2 minutes after I made the puddle and they spent 10 seconds giving it the sniffer test. It was a non reaction. No head bobbing, stomping, throwing her nose in the air, nothing. Just strolled right along. I wager its the same as peeing in big boys scrape. He can't tell its you and not a deer. But...to each their own. I choose not to carry around a pee filled (if you don't miss) bottle.

I do believe deer can smell the difference between predator and prey urine... I know I can. However, your human scent is much more alarming, and if they are close enough to smell and identify your urine, they can also smell you... If I need to go, I do so out of the tree. I have not seen much negative reaction that I can attribute solely to urine.

As far as peeing in a bottle, I feel that is a true waste of good squirrel ammo...

I thought the urine only breaks down rapidly if it is applied directly to soil, due to the bacteria. But if you are peeing on leaves, sticks etc... IDK...

I let it fly when I am not planning to return to the site.

Most of my sets won't be hunted again, or for a several months, so I don't think it matters. My human sent is all over the ground( dead skin cells). So the damage is done. If I see scrapes on the way in I leak in them sometimes. My friend had a trail cam on a scrape that he pissed in, the deer didn't show any hesitation there. These were not mature deer though...
