LW alpha question?
I just made the leap and purchased a LW Alpha.
Trying to decide wether to use the ez hanger or not?
What's do most beast members use and why?
Seems to lock on tighter using the offset bracket.

I would suggest using the batwing (offset bracket) The hook was designed to compete with other stand companies that had a system of dropping a stand on a T-scew or pin. You can't "offset" your stand for crooked trees, and it does not lock into the tree as well.

When I purchased my Assault I used the hook. The more I used the LW I started using the bat wing more and more. Not every tree is straight and you will really like the bat wing.

Batwing.... If I had a bunch of private stands maybe I'd have a few hooks hanging in my favorite trees?? But for run and gun beast style public, batwing all the way!!

Offset bracket and cam lock is the best way.

Good question.
I believe you got the answer you were looking for.
Throw the EZ hanger into the recycling bin.

E-Z hangers are obsolete in the world of the Beast.......

Re: LW alpha question?
I have used both, I use the batwing. I love the idea of the ex hang hook but you can not get it very tight and even after I followed the instructions I was always afraid of kickout on the bottom.

Re: LW alpha question?
If you do try to use the hook, I would like to offer some advice. I have seen some accidents by mis-use.
1st off, you still need to use a second strap to secure the stand "BERORE" you get in it.
Put the second strap around the TOP button. NOT the bottom.
Do NOT put the bottom strap on, if you insist on doing so, do NOT cam lock it. It can get so tight without the batwing that it bends the hook or breaks the buckle.
I have even seen it work its way up and pop off the hook...
If it were me, I would just stick to the Batwing.

Re: LW alpha question?
I love the hook. You just need to make sure the strap is flat all around the tree and tightened rock solid and then use the seat to ratchet lock it. Since I hunt a set on consecutive days I use a python cable just below the top versa button for additional safety. Otherwise use a second strap like Dan says. If you don't have 2 points of secure attachement then make sure you've attached your harness to the tree before stepping onto the platform for safety.
