Unread postby BigHills BuckHunter » Sun Sep 01, 2013 6:46 am

Just wondering if anyone had some good links to where I can find moon days overhead and underfoot? Thanks. BHBH.

I realize Dan posted moon days which is awesome but I would like to know for August to see if trail cam pics correlate at all.

Just checked that one out. Should help determine if your trail camera pics correlate with the moon phase.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I would be interested in those findings myself. I did a thread on the exact thing last year. The results were:

I kept track of mature buck pictures last year.
The peak times were 80 percent right on for daytime movements of mature bucks during shooting time.
I think they use underfoot and overhead moon times but there is also moon rise and moon set.
I also think they use the moon phases.
How they all interact? I'm not sure.
I just looked at the peak days and times.

Well I just recently purchased a moon guide and I'm really going to look into this.

I should also say my observations were based in Wi on private land during archery season before gun season opened.

Back in the late 90's BIP (before I-Phone) I purchased the "Moon Guide" wheel from Jeff Murray. I kept it in on the dash of my truck and every time I saw a deer I would check the moon guide. 85%, maybe even 90%. I have bought one every year since then. It's quick, east, and dependable. I always use it to plan my hunts and time off for a hunting get away. I just didn't take a day off unless the moon was right and my success really improved.

You prob. already have the address but for those who don't here it is:

http://www.moonguide.com/

Once you learn how you can start fig. it out just by keeping n eye on the moon by remembering it's 52(?) minutes later each day.
The guide just makes figuring and planning a lot more easy. Its less then 15$.

I agree, kind of obsoletes the moon wheel.

Can someone simplify "moon overhead" and "underfoot" as it relates to the possibility of bucks rising from their beds a little earlier in the evening that usual?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's a little fuzzy on it.

Thanks.

I'll check out the web. link. I have been an I-phone use for less then a year. I love the maps, etc. I didn't know there was a site for that until I read it here. Is there an app. or just a website?
