Opening Day! 8/30/13

Unread postby Knute78 » Mon Aug 26, 2013 6:52 am

Hoping this set up pays off for me on opening day. I have stayed out if this seclude spot for sometime. I looked at it this past winter to check it out and mid summer to verify my beliefs. From the looks of it I have a well used buck bed directly under that bush in the slough. From there it appear he only enters and exits directly to the south(left on the photo) and then heads east(towards the camera) into the trees and adjacent field. I will be waiting in ambush along that transition line into the trees if the wind is right.

Down is North.

Up is North, I think if you look close you can see the bush the bed is in, it's small but it's the only one in the slough. It's not quite centered and a bit right.

You can see other trails in the slough in the aerial photos so I assume he or other deer are using this area frequently. Hopefully I am there on the right day! Open fields surround this spot, however with him bedded where he is, the terrain, and the correct wind, I believe I can get within 80 yards without pushing it. I am a bit nervous as this may be my first true Beast Style Ambush! I need to hunt this spot before the crops come off and the section line is open for driving, dang prairie roads!

My father-in-law has been seeing deer back there consistantly. His house is more than a quarter section away from this spot. He has spotted at least one "nice one" as he put it. Crossing my fingers.

Let us know.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

That's a sweet little spot. I hope you can get the wind you need so you can be in there on opening day. :handgestures-thumbup: Looking forward to kill pics!

Jealous. Punching holes in the target is getting old.
