your favorite terrain type?

Unread postby UPbowhunter » Fri Aug 23, 2013 12:47 pm

What is your favorite terrain type? Farmland, big woods, swamp, bluff, marsh? And why? Mine is big woods, mostly because the older I get the more I crave solitude in my hunting. Bow hunting without human noise for hours at a time is more and more rare and in my opinion something most should put in their short list. With forestry practices changing we will never see the numbers of deer we did in the past in the big woods but its worth every minute of less deer sightings to me. What say you?

I really like cattail marshes, cause they are so easy to read and usually hold mature bucks... But, I also like a variety and like to prove to myself I can go somewhere new or different and still get er done.

Thickets, whether off marshes or in the bottoms.

Bluff/Hill Country is my favorite. I love finding a good terrain funnel.

My favorite hunting is big woods/ swamps like you find in the central U.P. There is something about locating, figuring out, and hunting a mature deer where there are no roads, fields, people for many thousands of acres. I crave the solitude and challenge of the deer that has more than likely never seen a human before.

I like Ag land and hill country probably best. but there's something great about being in big woods miles away from a main road..... I have some marsh land that's close by and want to start to seriouly scout it.

I have only hunted Hill Country and some Farmland. I really like farmland, but would love to try marsh hunting!
