Holla Bend Bucks.
This picture was taken Friday morning the 16th of August. Holla bend NWR is open from Oct 1st to the first week of December. Good place to hunt. This will be my third year there. Wish I could spend more time there. But, it is three hours away.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

They have soil beans an corn planted for them. They harvest some of it an leave some each year. There are around 6600 acres an a two month season. Here is the aerial photo. Border to the north is the Arkansas river. The two month hunt is bow only except a one weekend youth hunt in certain areas.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

Re: Holla Bend Bucks.
I have seen pics like that from Arkansas public land before. Arkansas is a sleeper IMO. I just told a friend a few weeks ago that I have been wanting to go there, but I'm not sure I will ever make it. Lodging is a killer on the pocket book. Maybe I will be able to afford a decent mobile rig one of these days and go down there. Although I'm not to big on all the poisonous critters that are around once you start heading south. Call me a wuss if you must.
You cannot invade mainland America. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

Yes it would. I would also like to have the third one from the left.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

Re: Holla Bend Bucks.
Was in AR earlier this year on business. Was able to slip away one afternoon for some fly fishing on the little red river. The guide was the president of the local TU chapter, and this was his home water, lost track of the number of trout we caught.
Was really impressed with the quality and quantity of the deer in the area, and was invited to go down for a hunting trip, just never enough time.
Know several of us have talked about this in the past. Doing a Beast traveling hunt, public land and open to who wanted to go, and all sharing tactics and deer camp together. Dan, I know you remeber the conversations......looks like this would be a good choice.
Think it, Plan it, Do it.......life is short.
