How are you preparing for season?

Unread postby Brad » Tue Jul 23, 2013 7:29 am

What is everyone doing these days to get ready for season? I have been shooting the bow a lot when the weathers decent, trying odd distance shots, and then at night shooting in my basement trying to beat target panic and perfecting my release. I have also been double checking stands and sticks, and will start practicing them real soon. I am also rounding up camo and other gear, looking at maps, and shining.

Prep for season;

Just completed pond reconstruction, food plot maintenance and secured deer stands.

Putting out litterally 17 game cameras........

Talked to wife about a camcorder for filming, 50th birthday in October....

Organized my notes from last year and what to do and not to do......on stand!!

Been practicing for upcoming archery bear hunt, learn and practice for deer hunts.....

As always staying in shape both physically and mentally.

Scheduling my own vacations based on moon phases....lol

Taking care of home domestics and doing all I can for my lovely wife......as always :liar:

Keeping an eye and inventory on all scent camo before my son goes back to college.

Enjoying life and getting my predator game face on!

What did I miss?

oh yeah, diet...no mushrooms and onions..... :shhh:

Im just doing some maintenance on some of my equipment. New batteries for range finder, inspecting my LW climber, and I just got my new strings for my bow in the mail from Vapor Trail. Ordered these on Friday and they were in the mailbox today. Pretty stoked!!! I have a few other things I gotta do before the season begins. Here are my new strings.

*Buying things I don't need to make me feel like hunting is closer than it is.
*Hanging cameras in new areas I'm curious about.
*Observing fields from the road, possibly an observation sit or two on the outskirts of some recently logged areas.
*Asking around for permission to hunt a few other spots.
*Eventually I'll hang a few permanent stands to supplement my new mobile setup. Have to wait until Sept 1st on public land.
*Choose which bow I'm going to hunt with primarily/finish sighting in my new bow.
*Walk a few logging roads.

Continue buying things.
