Rain and Acorns

Unread postby DropTyne » Thu Jul 22, 2010 5:25 am

I can't speak for everyone, but by me we have been getting alot of rain. How does this affect acorn production? Will they drop earlier? Does it affect the crop size at all? Will it be a productive year for acorns? Any other info?

I might be very wrong on this, but I thought I heard once, that oak tree's grow the best in a year, when they had plenty of rainfall the prior year... something about they stop doing any growing around the middle of summer and start storing up water for a reserve for the next spring... So I'm wondering if that would make a better acorn drop if the prior year was a wet year ? I'm sure someone else knows more about this subject than me tho....?
