My Treestand Hanging Routine (5 Minutes, 1 trip up - Video)

Unread postby bowhunter15 » Thu Jul 11, 2013 2:24 pm

I made a short video showing a tip that I use which allows me to hang the stand and bring all my gear up in one trip. I allege it takes 5 minutes, which is pretty close to what I do in the video while trying to explain the process. The trick is tying loops of string on your harness to hold the sticks. I remember when I first started using my stand and sticks it would take me like a half an hour every time.

BTW, if anyone has seen this tip before, send me a link. I'll give the original guy credit in the video because I know I read about it somewhere online.

Good Job man! I like how you used the safety harness as well

I do the exact same thing. However when I need more than 4 sticks, I also attach one to the center of my back to allow 3 sticks plus the 2 I hang from the ground

That's the same way I do it. Except, I attach the loops to my treesaddle and never have to go back down for anything. Works awesome.

Excellent video! How high do you get out of 4 mini sticks? You looked higher than I get out of 4 regular sticks!

I think in this video the platform was maybe like 14 feet or something? But if I really push it and test my strength and flexibility I can get close to 20. I would much rather have the regular sticks but I started out with the mini's with the assassin stand and never had enough justification to change lol.

Nice video! yeah I am curious how high you get with 4 mini sticks... you have a fair amount of distance between each stick..

I actually used to have little homemade "stirrups" on each of the sticks that gave me a 3rd step and allowed me to get much higher. I took those off for speed and safety reasons. Usually about the most I'll space my sticks is enough so that I need to use my hand and physically lift my foot up the last couple inches to get onto the bottom step. Then to a semi-single leg squat  . Only when I have to. I acutally find that there are many times I get to the top and realize I don't need a fourth stick and drop it back to the ground.

Holy cow man! I can barely get 15 out of 4 regular sticks, I think I need to do some serious practice in the offseason! Where do you put your HB camera arm?

I've been toying around with that. Last year I used a 2nd pull rope. So I had one attached to my bow and one attached to my camera arm. Then I'd climb the tree, pull up the arm, hang it, then pull up the bow. I'll keep trying to find a better way to bring it up, though.

Do you have any trouble with the sticks clanking on the tree or the stand on the way up?
