"Save the White Deer"

I live and hunt in the CWD zones in Wi, and when CWD came to be (or whatever it is) they had to change the rules to allow all deer to be shot, including albino deer as well as spotted fawns. Anyway long story short very close to one of the places I hunt, a piebald "white" deer got killed during last years rifle season, it was almost all white but had a single brown patch making it a piebald, it also sported 150-160" antlers or so. It stirred up a huge storm in the area because there are a few of these deer around, mostly does, but a few bucks from what i have heard. I have personally only seen 2 white does. The local tavern (also the registration station) had made a "pact" not to kill these deer because everyone enjoyed watching them. I know how tavern talk can go, everyone agrees to not kill something they fully never expect to see on their land during season anyways in hopes no one else would. I personally believe most people would not pass up a perfectly legal white deer that is of that caliber rack as well. Now the "locals" have started up a campaign with yard signs and floats in parades to outlaw hunting for these deer. I think the commotion is because an out of towner killed the buck, they threatened to burn down his camp when he returned for thanksgiving etc.

So, if a perfectly legal 160" white buck walks under your stand, do you shoot? I have been taking a lot of flack by my inlaws for taking a stand that I would kill it with no hesitation.

If a perfectly white doe walked under me and it was legal to kill and it was the first day of my rut vacation and all I had was my either sex tag I'd grease that doe and be done, and very happy

I would have shot that buck in a heart beat and the idiots that threatened to burn down his camp are a disgrace. I can see protecting white deer that are NOT albino's if they want to build their numbers, but true albino's to often have health problems and should be taken out of the herd.

id shoot it but honestly they arent nearly as nice looking as a regular colored whitetail.
