I always wanted to kill one... My 1st chance I flat out missed, second chance a year later, I got her. No second thoughts at all... Passing a white deer cause its rare and breath taking is like passing a 190 inch typical cause its rare and breath taking.

Good point! Guess I will never know for sure until I get one in front of me but it won't matter since they are illegal to kill where I hunt anyway.

I don't have time for someone else's petty games. If a deer of that caliber gives me a shot, I'm letting the air out.

I would try my best to drop it no questions asked.

It is against the law to shoot an albino here in TN. But piebalds are target on legal

90% in favor, 10% against.

Thats about what I expected. Very suprised its illegal in some states as an albino in an inferiour/poor gene animal.

A legal deer is a legal deer... I think people get too caught up in the mystical nature of the white deer... as if you are shooting a unicorn with magical powers... :D

Albino deer have a genetic mutation, and a non-favorable one to boot. In nature these deer would be culled from the heard more quickly by alpha predators, eg. wolves, coyotes, cougars etc.. since they do not have a natural coloring that allows them to blend into their surroundings...

A few years back we had a near albino squirrel running around the woods I hunt on... it stuck out like a sore thumb... needless to say he didn't last more than one season before he was picked off.. and not by me.

I guess I don't mind if people don't want to shoot these animals but I certainly don't think there is a problem with harvesting one if it is legal within your hunting area

If I was hunting in an area where it was legal to kill white deer and one came along I would definitely shoot it.

There's some misconception/use of the term white deer.

There regular deer, piebald, white deer, and albino deer...and then melanistic.

White deer have black pigment on it's eyes/nose/hooves. Albinos have the pinkish color.

White deer are common in the Seneca Army Depot area of NY.
