Nice Buck

Unread postby Slider1005 » Thu Jul 15, 2010 6:52 am

So I have one small piece of private land that I can hunt up north. Only bad thing is four of us hunt it and I think it gets to much pressure. Anyways, my friend checked the cameras for the first time in 2 months and we got a few nice ones to go after. Check it out

Slider try to get on them early, before the pressure forces them out.

Alright so I got back last night from spending the day up there working on some things, and figured I would give you boys an update.

I sat on a field and glassed waiting to see what would come out to feed. I know there is a buck bed on a little hill a short ways into the woods. About an hour before dark guess who shows up. The big boy. Guys, he is absolutely huge. I have not been hunting a long time, but when I saw him come out even without any weapon my blood was pumping.

I can assume now that the bed I found this spring must be his. There were no other bucks with him, just 2 does and two fawns. I have my tree picked out and I can't wait till opening weekend. I can't hunt till sunday because of work. I can't wait.

I'm a little worried going after this giant for my first buck but oh well go big or go home as they say. I'll keep you guys and gals posted.

Sounds good Slider. One key piece of advice... When he walks past opening Sunday, shoot him! ;) Good luck!

Sounds good Dan. Easier said than done though. It will be one heck of day I'm sure. I just hope the other guys don't muddy up the area on Sat. They tend to stay on the other side, or hunt over the food. They don't hunt like us beasts quite yet. 8-)

After Sunday depending on conditions, I will head up the freeway to the public land to set up on some promising beds I found this spring.

Go Big or Go Home is right my man. There is no rule that says your first buck has to be a dink! And if you accidentally goof it up Oh well, just keep at it, that will make you a Beast about as much as anything.
