I found some more beds the other day in the "Kettles" . Here they are . ImageImage These beds had rubs all over the place. They were 100 yds apart and along a river on a point on the outside of a bend on the river.

I find it interesting and a big headache that most buck beds are
1. hard to locate
2. without a rub inside the bed or very close how do you really determine it is buck bedding besides the fact its a lone bed
3. it seems all these pictures are great for the buck and seem impossible for the hunter to hunt without being detected long before they get close..?

found rubs but as can be see it looks like the grass is matted down all around the beds which I thought was more indicative of does

That is what I have noticed too. The 2 bed pics I found are so thick you cant walk. You cant even see any which way there. It is close to a canoeable river but that is th eonly way to get there quietly. I have noticed that up north they seem to sit on a little bit of a high spot , inbetween a few fallen trees overlooking an area. I imagine I have to sit a few hundred yds away, otherwise he will detect me.

FWIW a dollar bill folded in half is 3" long. Here a legal buck has to have a minimum of 3" of antler measured on one side from the antler burr. I was taught that when I first started hunting so I could make sure that I put the right tag on the deer. Obviously that isn't the case here but the same will apply to measuring a track.
