Re: Buck attacks dead buck!
I saw a video a while back where a whitetail was attacking a buck after it was shot and you could see one or two small bucks hanging out in the background, waiting for their turn. I would never imagine that the attack would happen with a hunter that close- crazy video.
On a side note, I was listening to a guy talk about using a decoy for deer and he claimed that one night his was left out over night and the next morning was busted up pretty good from a buck. The back legs wouldnt work so he just used the front legs and claims that he had more bucks than ever before attacking the "wounded" buck. He has since intentionally set up his decoys to mimic the "wounded" look. may have merit.

Re: Buck attacks dead buck!
I shot a small buck during the rut years ago and when Dad and I found it the hide was all raked up from a different buck.
I have wondered about what happens when the biggest buck in an area sheds his horns first. Do the other bucks get a little payback?

Cool video!
That reminds me when I shot a tom back in 2006 and the other 3 toms ganged up on him and beat him up good. This all happened 15 yards from me. Must be a heirarchy thing. You see that on TV quite a bit too with turkeys.

Re: Buck attacks dead buck!
Gun opener about 8 years ago we shot 2 bucks opening day. There were 3 that we saw hanging out at the farm and we took the 2 bigger ones. That first night around the fire we heard some commotion and sure enough the 3rd one of the group was in the deer pole giving one of the . After we scared him off he hung around for another hour or so. He wanted payback from getting his but wooped a few weeks earlier...

That little deer got tired of being bullied. Nothing like beating up the bully when he is already down.
