Elevation and bedding (how big of a deal?)

Ok, here's a hypothetical situation:

You are looking at a topo map of a place you've never been. There is an east/west running creek bed with multiple north/south points at different elevations. The points at highest elevations are open oak flats but some of the lower points have pine/cedar thickets at the tips. Farely large thickets. You have two days to hunt. This is late October. Where are you going to bet on that buck being? Lets assume that the points are similar in all other fashions and the difference is elevation and cover only?

My bet would be at the lower points with the cover if those points have the terrain features to create a thermal tunnel... However, I would not rule out the higher elevation points.
