bedding area question/ my first post

Unread postby matlocc » Mon Feb 04, 2013 3:25 am

I am new to hunting and I am trying to locate bedding areas. I have about two miles of lakeshore (Lake Huron) along this is a large open field at the shoreline. In this field are small isolated thickets that appear to be bedding areas. (the grass is layed down within the thickets) From what I have read, the deeer bed in thick nasty stuff. Not isolated thickets.
I will try to post a link to goole maps of the area, let me know what you think? I also can't figure out where the food source would be located here.

The link you posted didnt work for me,
My best advice is to forget what you have read in the magazines to this point and take what you learn here seriously. You will learn a completely different way of thinking on deer, behavior, bedding, feeding, ect. Keep an open mind and try to think outside of the box. The crew here are immensely helpful.

If you get a chance, get an aerial photo of your area and post it up along with a topo map.

Welcome to the Beast. Couldn't get the map link to work.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Thanks for the Google Maps app link for iPhone though. I downloaded it and it's pretty cool. ;)

Welcome to the Beast... Map link did not work. I would not doubt the deer in your area would bed in isolated thickets... They do every where else.
