Google Maps, but better

Unread postby Schubox1265 » Thu Jan 24, 2013 7:54 am

I just found this today, and thought I would pass it on.

This is Google-based map site that allows you to toggle to some very impressive topo maps, including MyTopo and the USGS topo's.

Bookmark it!

Can you down load it to a computer, and how if so? I tried and couldn't get it to save.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

That is awesome. Thank you. Even better than bing.

Try the snip it tool. That's what I use with Bing when copying images.

There is nothing to download. The link will get you to a map of the world. From there you can drill (scroll) down to areas of interest and pan. There is a toggle pull-down in the upper right to change the view type (map, sat, topo, etc). The default is terrain.

You can bookmark or favorite the link.

Good luck!

Try a screenshot Stan. Control key + PrtScn (Print Screen) and then you can paste that into Paint or other image software.

I want to save the image to draw and mark up with paint to share with others.

Oh. In my opinion, the best screenshot program out there is 'Lightshot'. This program you have to download on to your computer, and it 'takes over' your Print Scrn key for activation. It has plenty of options, including the option to save your screenshots as JPEG, PNG, or BMP files.

You can find the program, for either Windows or Mac, here: http://app.prntscr.com/

There is an intro/how-to video on the home page, on on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kW5LKwrU ... r_embedded

I hope this helps.
