Now that the 2012 season is over for most of us, what are your plans and goals for 2013?

I need to find more public land. I lost my private land in SE WI this year. I still have our land in Price county that I will need to focus more time on as well. I gotta find time to scout.....extra time is something I don't have, unfortunately. 4 kids put a damper on scouting. I have my eyes on some mfl

I haven't really given it much thought. I guess my goals are to try my darnest to take a good buck where ever I hunt but also to enjoy those hunts first and foremost.
I'd love to get some free time in Sept. I've been way too busy and haven't been in the woods much at that time of the year. I miss that.

My goal for 2013 is to finally release an arrow on a good buck. Right now I am in my longest streak since I started hunting of not killing a buck bow hunting. Been so long I forgot what it feels like to kill a big buck!! Good thing I am a patient person!

It has been three seasons and even though I have had plenty of opportunities on good bucks I have also been very stubborn on my goal of at least 130". Saw some slob bucks during this time including a few Booners but things never worked out to give me a good shot I felt comfortable with. Sometimes I think by waiting for that perfect shot I really hurt my success so that is something I am going to work on for next season.

Another goal I have is from now till green up to spend as much time doing some quality scouting as possible. Many times I cruise right through an area and don't spend enough time putting the entire puzzle together and end up missing subtle details. My goal this year is to slow WAY down and pay more attention to those details.

#1 - Layout my scouting efforts prior to stepping in the woods.

#2 - Concentrate on accessing the hunt location with minimal intrusion.

#3 - Scout, scout, scout - see #1 & #2.

#4 - Pre-cut (trim) my stand location(s) during winter/spring - see #2.

#5 - Probably #1 (as these examples are not in any particular order) HAVE FUN w/ Focus!

For 2013 I plan on being more focused in my scouting, sometimes I tend to wander around while I scout. I will pre-scout an area online, formulate a plan based off of aerial maps, then scout the plan.

I also plan on scouting in Iowa again this spring, lots of good public to walk. I should draw an Iowa tag this year

I think my biggest goal is to find a few more spots to hunt. Right now I feel I over hunt the spots I have. My second goal is to harvest another mature michigan buck. I will also be scouting in Iowa this spring I will have 3 points this year not sure if I will be able to hunt there yet but the scouting is always a great time and I have found areas to hunt but this year I want to really focus on finding some buck bedding areas. As always, I need to remember to have fun and not take it to serious.

3 hunts planned
MN turkey-Hope to get a decent bird with my bow.
NM Archery Public Elk- Hope to shoot a decent bull, doesn't have to be a monster
MN Archery Whitetail- Plan on concentrating a lot right next to my home town and hope to take a good one.

Going to be hard not going out of state for whitetails this year, but going to take a year off, save some cash and keep the home front happy for once. If I shoot a buck early in MN I reserve the right to change my mind! Well, I reserve the right to change my mind period, but as of now, the above is the plan.
