struggling

Unread postby tim » Wed Dec 19, 2012 8:01 am

well after early season bow hunting blunders and gun season blunders i continue to have the same bad luck in late bow season. i clipped the biggest buck of my life in bow season on oct. 23rd after looking closely at photos i realized i grazed his nose/muzzle and it aint pretty.(wont even say what i think he scores) i have no further pics after oct.31. i had the 2nd largest buck i have on trailcams this year handed to me on a silver platter when the neighbors drove him to me on sunday of opening weeked in gun season, all he had to do was pass my tree so i could turn to the left and shoot him, instead he winds me while directly behind me and i couldnt get a clear shot , so bye buy to that buck (almost 170") . i cant even see a deer around my metro unit spot or my kenosha spot. im going up to my land in vernon on thursday for 4 days for 1 more go at it. as far as i know my amish neighbor left me an acre of corn standing on my property(im hoping its still there, i cant communicate with him by phone  ) so anyways i hate hunting fields but il be doing an observation sit to start it out, before i move in and even check a camera i want one clean sit from on top near that corn field. i have 3 cameras on top on that corn field or near it. this will likely be my last chance on my property for the season, i never get a chance at late season up there so im excited to even have 5 days off this time of year. il post if my luck turns around..........

I've had seasons like that. A few years ago I could have had 3 dandy bucks if just little things would have gone differently. I guess these things make the victories much sweeter.... but it still hurts!!!! Good luck!

Where did you end up posting the pics of your first bow buck from this year after it was recovered?

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Does not take but just one hunt to turn it all around.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

I the middle of one of those seasons myself.....it happens if you hunt long enough. To top it off the one doe I shot was full of gangrene and not edible.

Things should pick up a few days after the next full moon when the fawns start to smell good. I plan on doing some bowhunting that week.

If you want to kill a deer you have to be in the woods.

thanks everyone,i didnt post pics yet of any buck cause i havent killed one--i hope, im hoping that muzzle shot didnt getinfected and kill him .im hoping hes on one of my cams and better yet i hope i kill him. and wouldnt it figure were gonna get a blizzard tomorrow while im supposed to be driving up--that just about sums up my season though i guess. if my corn isstanding i know for a fact it is the only field anywhere around cause i drove around to see what was still up and there wasnt anything but one field left in gun season besides mine in the area. with the snow coming im banking on that field and around it.
