Question?
I'm new here but not new to hunting. My question is..... What exactly is beast style hunting?
Is it finding buck beds and setting up on them or is there more to it?
Hopefully you guys will be able to clue me in!
Thanks.

Re: Question?
If you get a chance, pick up the DVD's for sale in our store "hunting marsh bucks & Hill country bucks".... They are great videos that go into depth about the Beast hunting tactics...
To me, Beast style hunting means taking into consideration where the buck beds... So you hunting where he moves in daylight, rather than where he moves and leaves sign at night.
Also, so the target buck is not bedded in a spot where he knows when your hunting.
To me, every type of hunting tactic is enhanced by knowing where the buck spends all his daylight hours ( around his bedding area )

Re: Question?
Ahhh, I see. I guess that I have been beast style hunting without realizing it.
"Also, so the target buck is not bedded in a spot where he knows when your hunting."
I believe that this is one of the problems I am having. It caused by the shape/topo of my land. I will be working on this problem starting this weekend.
Thanks for the reply.

Re: Question?
Good to see you on here Greg! One thing I've lacked Is finding exact known beds of mature bucks. In the past 3 years I've gotten to figure out where a few of these bucks live (the area of the woods their In) but haven't been able to find the exact bed Itself. I don't consider myself a 100% bed hunter yet just because I can't get over that hurdle of finding that exact bed. I'm working on Improving that. I hunt area's I know they bed In. One thing that kicks my but Is the neighbors to the east and west of the land I hunt have outstanding bedding (lots of marsh).

Re: Question?
The DVDs are the best introduction to Beast style hunting. A must watch for every hunter. Welcome to the Beast.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Me to Greg...Ive been a "beast style hunter" (with my own twist) for years and didnt even know it. Thats why I was told to check this site out by about a dozen different people, lol.
My Dad and a couple of his SF friends started "beast style hunting" for mature bucks back in the mid-70's when they got back state side.
Hope you stick around Greg!! This is a good site and Dan is good people....you will make a good addition to the Beast.
P.S. This is grizz in Ninja mode, lol.

Re: Question?
Beast style hunting and big buck bedding locations have been in print since the nineteenth century, and I'm sure this style of hunting was used long before that... many people have not been exposed to it or taken it to the level Dan has, for example.

Re: Question?
Dans DVDS changed the way I thought about hunting and not only that but whitetail deer.
I think MOST of the hunting shows you see on TV really hurt the average joe. I know they hurt my hunting for years. I thought you just hunt like they do and it will work. Then I realized they are hunting on VERY LOW pressured land and the buck managment is extreme.
I used to hunt certain spots just because I would see a lot of deer. Or sit in a spot with a good view. Not much to show for it.
I remember a time where I didnt consider the wind at all. Now every hunt I go on the milkweeds come with.

Re: Question?
Guys thanks for the replies.
I too was told about this site from a few others. I'm glad they did. This is a no nonsense site unlike the others I've been on. What I really like is the lack of pissing contests. Just serious talk from serious hunters. I've seen Dan on other forums and appreciate his drive for hunting whitetails. He really knows his .
Grizz....er Autumn ninja, thanks for the heads up on who you are!
