Finding Topographic Maps

Unread postby BowtechHunting » Fri Nov 30, 2012 8:36 am

I have been looking at topo maps, and I like to surround myself with as much info as possible. I have found several good spots that weren’t on other maps, just because of their older aerial photos were out dated. A few that I find useful are:

- weather.com (Most obvious one, look at the WeatherInMotion Radar it shows fronts that are moving through)
- hint.fm/wind/ (shows current wind velocities and direction, not much there, but really cool site)
- flashearth.com (great site for what seems to be up to date aerial photos, no topographic capabilites)
- usgs.gov (basic topos)
- googleearth.com (allows you to mark and put GPS coordinates in)

The best that I have found is go to your local PVA office. I got a 11x17 color print out for $3 that gave the landowners property lines and pretty much anything else you would like on it. I don't think you can have enough information to help you when it comes to whitetails.
