Plan of Attack - Non Typical Approach

Unread postby Troutking » Sun Nov 11, 2012 12:42 am

I have been out of the game the last 26 days after killing a buck on Oct. 14th. Today is the gun opener and I am back in the game. It is currently 60 degrees outside, I have my front door open as I type this at 6:30 in the morning trying to cool off the house. It's going to get up to 77 today in Central Missouri. I am not hunting today, rather with the heat and heavy rain we are getting tomorrow I am going to hang a couple trail cams in areas I want to monitor in December for late season on the Archery only public area I hunt. Also, I am going to scout a couple spots since they are for a north wind and I don't think deer will use them much until after it has rained Sunday night to wash my scent away. We will have a strong S wind all weekend. I hope this logic is sound??? I will hunt this archery only area Monday through Thursday with a gun tag and a bow. Very few people hunt this area during gun season because of the archery only requirement. Hopefully I'll put something good down this week! Scouting when others are hunting in the heat and rain as well as using a bow during gun season on public land where no one goes this time of year, that is my non-typical approach.
