I have always used a summit climber stand when bouncing around but have noticed alot of guys that hunt "beast style" are using lone wolf hang ons and sticks. Just want to get u guys views on each, the pros and cons etc. im always looking for the easiest way to be mobile but are these lonewolfs really that easy to carry and setup? Seems like the sticks would be difficult to carry in and out each day w/o making noise etc.

Re: Lw hang-on vs. climber
go to youtube and search "Dan Infalt lone wolf set up" hang ons are a lot more portable and will let you access more trees than a climber. when you hunt beds, your not in a race to set up your stand. each movement is slow and deliberate, focussing on being quiet.

No comparison at all. The lone wolf is the way to go.

Re: Lw hang-on vs. climber
I have a LW climber and wished I had a LW hang-on with sticks. I had to walk away from some awesome set ups because the trees didn't allow me to get a climber up them.

Re: Lw hang-on vs. climber
I have the Summit OpenShot and love it, however it has it's limitations with two key notables.
1) Have to find a bare tree or pre-cut in for the climber.
2) Finding the right tree is a lot harder and maynot necessarily be in the right spot.
I just bought the Lone Wolf setup that many Beasts talk about.
It's surprisingly compact but the huge benefit is the flexability on you setup!
That makes it number one in my book for overall usage between the two...
I still use my climber but sporadically.

Re: Lw hang-on vs. climber
I have a Summit Viper climber and since I bought a LW and sticks my climber does not leave the basement! I might pull it out for gun season if I go just because there are more straight limbless trees up north.
With my LW and sticks I look for the perfect spot instead of a perfect tree like I did with my climber.

Re: Lw hang-on vs. climber
I've never used a climber before because most of the spots I hunt don't have trees straight enough and are full of branches. I use the Assault and sticks and I love it because It's lightweight and easy to hang and quiet. I hunt some public land and I find it easier to be mobile.

Re: Lw hang-on vs. climber
I have a lone wolf handclimber benefits are:
very lightweight
very quiet
quick set up
comfortable
I am 50 years old and I am trying to carry as light a load as possible. I want no more than 18 pounds or so on my back. Almost all my stand sights are scouted and prepped in spring. The biggest draw back is when you are scouting during season with your stand on your back and you find hot sign to hunt, sometimes you can't find a suitable tree. And that is a big sacrafice. If you are young and fit sticks are the way to go.

Re: Lw hang-on vs. climber
With a little practice you wont use your climber any more. Much more comfortable and mire trees to hunt from.
