The weather, the rut, and the moon this weekend
I am curious as to others opinions of what deer activity will be like this weekend. Things look great to me on one hand...a massive cold front push through the midwest and based on what I saw on stand and heard about last weekend, the chase phase of the rut is about to go crazy.
However, I also see that this weekend has a full moon all night...which in my experience means morning and evening activity will be greatly suppressed. Lots of movement in the middle of the day then? Will this stage of the rut coupled with a cold front have more of an effect with still good deer movement in the morning and evening?
I can't remember hunting this exact situation ever before, one way or another I should learn something.

My personal take is it will be good but midday will be the time to be out

Man all this talk is getting me pumped ... I'm leaving early Friday mourning with Jodi to western Wisconsin to hunt for 9 days . This weather front is going to be good. I'll be in the woods by noon Friday, wish it was mourning but I'll take what can get.
My goal is to get Jodi her first with the bow.. She leaves Tuesday the 30 th, after that its game on for me!!!!!!!!

That is what I am thinking too...the cold front is rolling through this area tomorrow so tomorrow night through this sunday I am going to be in a stand!

Couldn't be more excited! Going to be hitting some good tough to get to spots that I know hold big bucks. Still saving my favorite rut stand for the next weekend or after that even. I hope to sit all day hopefully all of the days!

Re: The weather, the rut, and the moon this weekend
I'm very interested to see what goes down this weekend. I think it's a bit early yet for the big boys to be running around, but with the cold weather, maybe that's all it takes? I'm not going to start all day hunts until Nov 2nd, so with that being said, the hawg's will probably be running all day long this weekend. Good luck everyone, can't wait to hear to what everyone see's....

Re: The weather, the rut, and the moon this weekend
things are heating up in MD... multiple people have seen nice bucks chasing does.
halloween time is always my favorite of the year... i tend to see more big bucks than in november?
sat-tues its getting colder... a lot colder and ill be out as much as i can.
i dont see much full moons, but like others said prob worth a mid day hunt.
whatever day it gets cold, stays cloudy and maybe a light rain or wind ill sit till 2 and see what happens.

I plan on sitting in stand until about 9 and then relocating to another stand and then sit from about 10 till dark on Sat and Sun. Let's hope for some mid day movement or it's going to be a long couple of days on stand! haha
