Unreal year so far

Unread postby muddy » Mon Oct 22, 2012 2:39 am

I am loving this cool October weather, I may have only hunted a few different times but I love having my phone blow up with pictures of GIANT whitetails. I got a text about a 280+ killed last night and about a dozen others ranging from 205 to 245. All Iowa, all this year. Few years of hot early season to keep those bucks moving nocturnal an getting some age on them and BOOM a cool October gets them killed!

Personally I welcome the weather, reminds me of when I had to wear a jacket over my Halloween costume as a kid, not sweat to death like the past few years.

Extended forecast shows that the trend should continue. It was showing temps in the 40s starting next weekend. I can't wait.

Wish I had that cool October weather too  It's been like 60 degrees the past two days, and will be 60-70 for the next couple days in Western WI. But, the cold front is supposed to hit next Friday, and it sure does look like a ton more big bucks are going to fall!

I figure my chances lessen every day I don't kill him. If it gets to rut time I'm figuring it will be real tough to knock him down (not impossible though).

My gut feeling is your going to knock one down a week from today. ;)

You guys are getting me all jacked up. Haven't been out yet this year. The new house will be done next week and I will be hunting my tail off for a month. Can't wait, life has been very testing the last few weeks.
