Hello there guys. I am a new member and this is my first of many posts on this site! I was introduced to this site by a good friend of mine a few weeks ago. After watching the videos of the marsh and hill country, I was hooked the way these guys hunted. Hopefully I can learn tons from here as my friend did. Well, i did go and scout some land early this week and i found my first buck bed!! I was so shocked and amazed as i realized i walked passed signs just like these for god know how long!! it was butted up to a river and surrounded by 5-6ft tall grasses with rubs torn up everywhere! My question is just what wind would have this buck bedded here?
Newbie here.

Re: Newbie here.
This is all flat land. just one steep hill where the road is but that is about it. its all marsh from the river to the edge of the woods. where i marked the bed is where most of all the sign is at. rubs/scraps etc. i would think this buck would bed there on a se wind checking the wind from the big forrest and letting it blow to his bed. but i could be wrong, im a newbie. ive always hunted on winds that were good for me but after watching the videos, i learned to have the winds wrong for me and right for the deer. stilll a bit confused about this. lol

Welcome to the BEAST!
I would expect the buck to bed there with the wind blowing from the woods to the bedding area... It is possible that he beds there without regard to wind direction, they do that a lot in marshes, but for sure, he would like a wind telling him if danger lurks in the woods adjacent to the bed, leaving him with a downwind escape rought to the river.

Welcome, & I agree, I would think an east wind according to your map.... what did you notice about the bed? Was there any rubs around it?

It would be cool to see a larger pic of the area to get a better idea of what you have there. On first blush I would hunt that stand on a South East wind. It looks like the deer would cross the creek a little south west of the bedding you have posted. Looks like it could be a good spot for sure.
