Myles Keller seminar at LCO Casino this weekend!!!

Unread postby Dewey » Sun Oct 14, 2012 3:46 pm

Wish I would have known about this sooner!

As many of you know Myles Keller is one of the best trophy buck hunters out there but has kinda disappeared from the seminar and deer show scene lately so this is a really big deal. I am really bummed that I won't be able to make it but hoping somebody that lives in the Hayward area or is travelling thru is able to check it out. His seminar is at 11:30 A.M. Sunday (tomorrow)

.........................................................................

After a gap of several years, the LCO Casino will host the return of the Buck-O-Rama hunter’s expo and game fair this Friday through Sunday, Oct. 12-14.

The event will include three seminar stages hourly in the indoor lounge and outdoor tents, featuring top experts such as master bowman Myles Keller, who will bring his world-class trophy whitetail deer display, Bob Mercier, Bear Crazy-Bill Wiesner, master hunting dog and retriever trainers, turkey callers, as well as DNR speakers on topics such as elk in Wisconsin and chronic wasting disease.

There will be a display of world record whitetail deer and black bear trophies, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s Great Elk Tour, a 1,200-pound live Kodiak grizzly bear, an ATV village, air rifle, paintball, interactive laser shooting and fishing villages, pop-up archery tournaments (bring your own bow), black powder muzzleloader shooting and sporting clays.

There also will be live hunting dog demos each day, a free trophy contest, free official measuring of all big game species ands shed antlers by the Wisconsin Buck and Bear Club for the Wisconsin Pope and Young and Boone & Crocket record book, and shooting competitions with $1,000 in cash prizes.

The youth village will include a dinosaur shoot. The Rendezvous encampment will include demos of flint knapping, making your own bow, fire starting, traditional felt hat making, historic blacksmiths, furriers and carvers.

Visitors are invited to meet “The Swamp People,” R.J. and Jay Paul Molinere.

New this year is a venison chop with wild rice cook-off contest.

Hunters are invited to bring in their trophy to display and get a free show entrance, free official measuring and qualify to win NFL tickets to a Packers-Vikings game. There also will be daily drawings and cash prizes.

The competition awards ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday for the Ironman, Annie Oakley and youth shooting contests, archery (men, women, cub and cadet), venison chop cook-off contest, pop-up shoot, and Wisconsin Buck and Bear Club awards.

Hours of the Buck-O-Rama will be 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for youths 11-17, and free for ages 10 and under. A weekend pass costs $12.

Myles is the real deal.

I've always heard nothing but great things about Myles Keller. One of the true legends in my opinion.

what are Myles' hunting strategies? I remember of him years ago and I know he contributed to a book called "Moonstruck" anyone know any of his other tactics besides using the moon?

That Moonstruck book written by Jeff Murray is how I heard of Myles. Definitely a huntingbeast. One of the best books out there too with sound tactics!

It would be a good seminar to attend. Because Myles I think started the big buck hunting that we have today. Most of his trophies were on his own time and hard work.

I don't know much about Myles but I had that XI velocity extreme bow he pushed, that thing was screaming fast but impossible to shoot! Was he the guy that always hunted on a regular camp stool and used like 240 grain broadheads or was that someone else?

I know of a couple of tactics Myles Keller uses are hunting a bucks bedroom when conditions are right. He also sits on the ground in cattails. A couple of articles I read about him in the past were my first introduction of this type of hunting. I wish I would have paid better attention.

He also hunts fence lines to pattern a buck and moves in when he finds the weak link in its travel route. He said " A fence line is like the window to the big bucks bedroom and kitchen."

Good friend of mine went to one of Myles seminars (Sunday 14th) and he was the only one to attend. So he had a one on one chat with Myles for an hour. They didn't talk much about hunting but more of Myles life history. He is getting old (66) and has bad knees. I find it hard to believe no one showed up for his seminar. He is just no gas bag and people would rather listen to some guy talking about how they killed the big one with such and such outfitter. Myles is arguably one of the best whitetail bowhunters of all time. He just wasn't born with a pretty face and buxom figure.
