Trail camera checking

Unread postby whitetail4ever » Sun Oct 07, 2012 7:40 am

Hey fellow beasts!! I just wanted to know how often you guys check your trail cams, assuming that they are on the edges of food sources and not deep into the woods. Thanks for the input...

If you are monitoring bucks for inventory purposes you can check more often than if you are setting cameras out for hunting intel. I like to let my cameras run a minimum of 4 weeks. I have some out right now that haven't been checked for 8 weeks.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Im with Stan on this one....longer the better, love the pics....but hate to leave any scent behind (even on a field edge) when its not laid down going to a stand during season....

I only check them when I am going to walk past them for a hunt or very close vicinity. One camera was left from Aug 18 - opening day. The other Aug 19 to Sep 29.

I don't hunt my farms enough to expect to pattern a deer off a trail cam so it's about inventory for me. As long as I feel like I have a good number of bucks photographed by rut I think I accomplished something.
