Yea it sucks. I'm about to leave but still trying to figure out if I should hunt a low impact spot for does, go for the bucks, or just walk new land and hit it hard tomorrow morning.

Sitting on the ground hunting cattail trails tonight. Hoping to catch a buck leaving his bed early and staging in brushy area in the cattails. Wind is not as bad as I thought but really gusty at times and just enough to cover my approach.

Have had some good success on windy days 20-25 MPH. Overall deer sightings are less, but buck big buck movement close to bedding areas has been killer for me. I'll take some wind over dead calm any day of the week.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Took a neighbor out and put him on a good spot and me on a good spot where we used the wind to get real close to bedding. I saw nothing... He had a small buck get out of a bed right at last light and passed on it.

Didn't see a deer tonight but did find a ton of fresh buck sign. The spot was just tore up and I'm pretty disappointed I didn't have any action. Oh well.....another spot to check out again later.

Tried sneaking into a tree 50 yards from a buck bed and ended up finding out he bedded closer to the tree than expected when i bumped him 10 yards from the stand. But the wind helped me get that close to him.

Try again today. Heading North to my Cabin. Good luck this weekend to all the Youth :!:
