I am fired up about the cold front approaching the Upper Midwest for this weekend... then I look at the Moon Chart and whoa! Friday / Saturday / Sunday have much colder temps plus the moon underfoot! I have to work Saturday and Sunday, but will make a serious play on stand Friday night, based on wind and current conditions. Might have to try and talk someone into covering me for a few hours Saturday or Sunday...
Who else will be out there?

Our youth gun hunt is over and done with here in Michigan...
Even if it was still going on, these conditions would have me on stand though. I would definitley prefer NOT to have that going on, but I'd be out there...
It would be important to me to NOT give away my top stand sites, arriving very early for an evening hunt usually lets me get away with this. Small properties would certainly be a concern.

I do not really think the youth hunt is a major factor in MOST areas. If I remember it was only like 12 or 15 thousand licenses sold last year. I am sure a lot of them hunt in back yards and around corn fields. I bow hunted last years youth weekend. Heard no shots, and only saw one pair of gun hunters. This year however my GF will be sittting a stand with her 10 year old daughter. We just taught her how to shoot the ole .243 last weekend. She did better than mom 
She is really pumped to hunt. So am I after seeing a dandy 10 point Sunday night. Will be in woods a bunch this weekend for sure!
