Buck Bed??? What do you think?

Unread postby Crazinamatese » Thu Sep 27, 2012 12:15 pm

While on Public land last Sunday, I found this berm on the edge of swamp inside a small woodlot. There was a bed on top of it indicated by the blue arrow. I found alot of white belly hair in it. There are some good trails going all over the place in this wooded area. I didn't see any rubs nearby it either. Buck Bed?

This is the public land inside the square. The white dot is where the bed is...

Great spot for one, from a bucks perspective.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Thanks for the replies fellas. Keep in mind I never stepped foot on this area before last weekend. I plan on hunting this possibly this Saturday. I know I can kill a deer there in one sit. Some of the trails I seen were pretty well used and are heading toward a cornfield across the road, or they skirt the edge of the woodlot. This is where Im kicking myself in the rear for not buying a lone wolf hang-on stand. Instead, I have a lone wolf climber. I love it, but there are only a few select trees that I can get my climber into on this land, and they aren't very close to this bed. Any wind except a west/SW wind is ideal for a good set up. I been making some plans as to how to approach this area and maybe encounter this buck. I don't know if he is a giant, or a little one yet. The area is close to a paved back road too. I noticed last Sunday when I was in there a few trucks drove by and they stopped to look at my car. I was kinda worried. Why are these dudes slowing way down to look at my car when they drive by? I was parked in the ditch. Nothing looked out of the ordinary. I never experienced that ever on public land. Kinda weird observation.
