Same buck,or same gene pool

Unread postby rut » Wed Sep 19, 2012 8:54 am

Night time shot is from the other day.Daytime picture is from last season.I'm still trying to determine if it is the same deer,or just from the same gene pool.If it is the same buck,it looks like it may have lost some size this year. There are enough similarities in the racks to really make me wonder if it is the same deer or not.

Same deer. Drought this year caused minimal antler growth. That is my guess.

Different deer.
You cannot invade mainland America. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

thats a tough one... i want to say they are different, but im not sure.

drought didnt effect us much... healthy fawns everywhere, big bucks on camera, and acorns everywhere.

Im in MD, and there is water every 100 yards at the most around here... creeks, streams, rivers, and ponds in every patch of woods.
You can't kill em on the couch

I looked again and could be wrong but I really think its the same deer. Deer do not always get bigger antlers each year, and there are many factors that contribute. If he is not the same deer then for sure must be related!

There was no drought in the north east this year. (Rut is in CT)

I think its a different deer, but very difficult to tell.

That's the same deer. I'm pretty confident about that.

I would say same deer. Browtines look the same to me. I have been able to follow a couple different bucks over a couple years and they don't always make a big jump in antler size from year to year.
