Beast group hunt

Unread postby Zap » Sat May 29, 2010 2:00 am

OTC tags in Missouri are $225, for two either sex and two turkey tags. Doe tags are $25 each, and unlimited.

Only one buck can be taken before gun season (11/14 or so).

Anyone interested in a public land early season group hunt/get together?

Almost every area has a lot or two designated for primative camping, enclosed campers and generators are allowed.

Season opens 9/15, Wendesday.

Lotsa public to choose from, some marsh areas.

Missouri is an underrated state for whitetail's IMO.

There is usually a real good doe population at these areas, and bucks can be had.
Minimum 4 points on one side antler restriction, in most areas.
Most areas will have some soybean fields.
No screw in steps, but stands can be left overnight.

Bucks can be hunted until 1/15/11, anyone with an unfilled tag could do a late season hunt. The areas are usually deserted after Christmas.

Missouri Is a great buck state. P&Y entries have sky rocketed the last 7 years from there. A friend of mine goes somewhere down there and hunts some very well managed land. They've done very well since the AR's were put Into place. Some year I hope to get out there.

Sounds fun... Maybe we could do it. It would be fun to do a different group trip each year.

We could also pick an area near a truck stop, one that lets non CDL holder's use the showers for $5.00.

I was just thinking about doing a hunt in Missouri this morning, but I had no idea where to start. That would be perfect.

I couldn't commit right now, but I am highly interested. I'll have to see what my elk hunt does to my hunting funds, and what I'm doing work wise.

I think alot of folks would have to see how the summer pans out, but dont hesitate with your input to this topic because of that.

A Corp of Engineers lake would also be a possability, the campgrounds have electric hookups or primative.

I am not sure about showers, but I would imagine that they have em.

Thanks for the input, Sneaky.

I'm very interested - only not for this year, I'm all booked. I'd be in for next year though if decent hunting was found.

I'm up for whatever you want to do. If I can swing it, then I definately will do it.
