Big TX 8 on my Hitlist "Boomer"
I just found this big boy a couple weeks ago. He is my #1 target. I have him and a few other nice ones patterned pretty well right now. I keep the area very low impact and already have stands placed for different winds. October 1 can't come fast enough! I'm thinking he's a low-mid 150's 8pt with a kicker. Any guesses from the Beast crew?

Great buck! Hard to get those high scores out of an 8 point... I am saying mid to high 140's... Score is unimportant though.

I'm @ maybe high 140's gross and can be slightly deceptive with velvet...
All I can say is I WOULD SHOOT HIM - he's a fantastic buck!!!

Re: Big TX 8 on my Hitlist "Boomer"
Those are 10 & 12" G2s and 8" brows...
brows = 16"
G2s = one is 12 the other 10 = 22
G3s = 7" and 9" = 16"
beams = 22-23" = 44-46"
mass = 34"
kicker = 3"
spread = 17"+
152"-155"
brows = 16"
G2s = one is 12 the other 10 = 22
G3s = 7" and 9" = 16"
beams = 22-23" = 44-46"
mass = 34"
kicker = 3"
spread = 17"+
152"-155"

Re: Big TX 8 on my Hitlist "Boomer"
Bucky, keep in mind that thats not the same species of whitetail we have in Wisconsin. The texas strain he has pictured is a small deer, probably about 130 pounds.
Brows 16
G2S 22
G3'S 15
MASS 23
M.BEAMS 40
KICKER 3
INSIDE SPREAD 14
133 gross
I think I over scored it the 1st time, just by glance... It would be interesting if the buck gets shot and scored what the real score is.

Those Giant 8s are rare. Hope you get him. I would say 145-150 gross.

Mass 23"? That is less than 3" average for 8 measurements... NO WAY = You still get 8 measurements on an 8pt buck. I have scored 2yr olds in WI that gross 90"s that have 23"s in mass
I will give you the spread might be less than 17 and beams may be as small as 20-21"
The average whitetail deers ears are 6-6.5"s = even on a Tehas deer ear tip to ear tip on alert is roughly 16" (beams on this buck curl outside of it)
My lowest score on this buck is mid 140s

Now our buddy from Texas has to kill em so we can know for sure

4 - 3 - 3 - 1.5 = 11.5 X2 = 23... its the mass measurement between the last tine and the end of the beam that kill 8 points on mass. I have a couple racks that look just like that rolling around in the garage, went out and looked at the mass, and will stick to that answer.
An eye ball on a deer is roughly 3 inches in diameter.

If we had a front on view, and ears were alert, I believe those ears would be beyond the spread of the deer.
It might go 140's 1st glance tells me that. But taking a closer look and comparing it to other pictures of known scoring deer, and racks in the garage tells me it scores a lot less than what every one thinks.. Regardless, its an awesome 8 point, and the score should not be the main factor in taking it.

Re: Big TX 8 on my Hitlist "Boomer"
I have scored 100s of sheds and racks...
That buck buck does not have 23"s worth of mass measurements...
The spread could be 15-16"s - agree
For reference the mass on this set was 14" a side
But I will agree to disagree

Re: Big TX 8 on my Hitlist "Boomer"
Wow, what an awesome buck. I love big main frame 8's! At first glance I was thinking 160. Then I thought low to mid 150's easy. Being a Texas deer I just don't know though. I just can't get over the impressive looks of that deer. Maybe it only goes 145, but I don't think so. We are still talking about a mature buck with a good size body. Texas or not.

Easy 140's class eight point. Maybe bigger just depends on mass. Shoot him and tell us
