Exciting news from Ohio DNR in the mailbox today :)
I drew the salt fork archery permit for me and a guest. I can hunt it anytime I want during the week from 9-29-2012 until 2-3-2013. It starts opening up more and more after 12-2-2012 until the whole area is open.
Its also... on a lake and as you all know, I just bought a bass/buck boat!
Things are looking up!

Hummmm.....with a couple permits for the entire season...does the guest have to be the same guest each hunt?

A couple buddies and I are going to try south-east Ohio public land this fall.
Much larger bucks than we are used to in MD, and will be my 1st MidWest hunt.... if they consider OH midwest?
6 hour drive from where Im at now.

5.5 from me, much bigger bucks than home and more deer period. Have you been out there to scout? The deer trails look like cattle paths.

No I havent personally, but 1 of the guys in our group went last season and has some good starting out info.
We will go in the rut and hut rut style, but Ill be doing a lot of scouting and hope to return each and every year.
Ill hunt anywhere that I can DIY and drive.
