Murray Moon Guide

Unread postby backstraps » Thu Jul 26, 2012 4:39 am

So what are the "prime" times to have the moon overhead and underfoot?

When I was looking at mine... would you want the evening times on the guide for your hunting day to be as close to dusk and the morning times to be close to sunrise?

Yep, that's how I take it as well.... I think Dan said once, for evening hunts, it's seems to be better if the overhead is an hour before the sunset. I guess the idea is, the overhead thing gets the deer up on their feet at that time, so an hour before sunset would be beneficial to us hunters.

On days of the Guide that has for ex:

7:37AM/8:08PM

The moon will be underfoot that morning at 7:37 am
and overhead at 8:08 pm

This should be a good day to hunt both morning and evening sites?

That would depend on when sunrise and sunset are...

OH, one other thing....I didnt adjust the moon guide's times for my location. Have not figured out how just yet...

The Longitude for the sunrise sunset above was W82.5
The central meridian is for Eastern Time Zone is 75

So If I figured correctly, I need to subtract 32 minutes from the listed times?

Do these guides work the same each year or do you need to get a new one every year or so, I think I will pick one up this year.

Yes, that would be a good movement day both morning and evening.

on this particular day for the position I am located:

Sunrise 0719
Sunset 1925

Moon guide shows (underfoot with my subtractions) 0702
Moon guide Shows (overhead with my subtractions) 1940

Ooops , sorry I was posting when you replied last :)

THANKS!

Dan, from what I have read, are there only a few "moon days" that hunters really look for per season?
What would prime moon dates be considered as?
