1st Kansas hunt
I usually hunt Illinois and Ohio every year for whitetail but this year i got invited to hunt a 1000 acres in KS. Two farmers gave me permission to hunt their land which has produced a 191", 194", 204", 211" & 252" in just the past 10 years. If you dont believe me look up the Chad Christie buck and thats whose land ill be on. To say the least IM STOOKED! Im only a bowhunter and self filmer, ive been self filming for 5 years and sent some footage to Andrea with whitetail addictions and im trying to round a bunch more footage up to make and actual episodes worth of footage. Anyway... my main question is, Has anyone hunted KS or does anyone have any feedback about the state. I will be in Unit 10 Douglas county.

Sounds like a great place you got permission... I hunted Kansas once, but only for a weekend... But there are a few guys here that hunt Kansas more often.

Re: 1st Kansas hunt
I am pretty sure that Douglas County is in Unit 19.
Except for a bit of the south, thats in 11.
There is a small part of the county north of Lawrence in 10.
I live here, PM me your ?'s.

Re: 1st Kansas hunt
Correct it is unit 19 i will be in. Im just curious as to the amount of pressure in this area being a management area, if its known for pulling good deer and a little history about this part of land in general. Im from Ohio and hunt crop & timber plots and was uncertain what kind of terrain im going to be getting into. I was told there is a little bit of river bottom in this area and didnt know if this was bluff country or flat country, or just a flat out mixture in and around Lawrence.

Re: 1st Kansas hunt
Douglas county is a mix of areas. some flat areas, and some with topographical changes. Elevation change is generally 120'-150' in a square mile.
If its private ground the landowner should know about hunting pressure.
Unit 19 has an early firearms season Oct. 9 - 17.
All Kansas has an early muzzleloade season Sept 20 - Oct 3.
I shot a 175" in this Unit.
