Bow & stand rack for my kayak...
Me and Carol bought Kayaks. I am hoping to use mine to get down some creeks, canals, and rivers to deer hunt. I will likely tow a second kayak when I need to remove a buck and strap it in the passenger seat.
Anywho, I made a Bow & stand rack for my kayak and it turned out pretty cool. I wanted it in the back, but it just did not work out back there so I put it in the front. Makes it a little harder to land, but still doable.

Very cool, should be a great tool for where you hunt. Still have nightmares of that drive a few years back

Dan, looks slick. Like Biggy said, can you get a pic with the stand off the yak? Also now would be a good time to experiment with laying your sticks "flat" like some of us do. Anything to lower your cg will help.
ps. Have you ever killed a deer with short hair?

I will get some pic's up when I get a chance... As far as sticks sideways, I tried it and like my way better. Killed a few with short hair, but most were with long hair.

Dan where do you plan to attach your bow at, i would watch out attaching to stand and sticks. lots of sharp edges there.

Good point, there is also a slight issue with the front of the kayak getting dunked getting in and out, and its often nasty gook and weeds that you wouldn't want getting in your cam's or string.
I do plan on attaching the bow to the stand and sticks with bungees, but will be putting it in a soft case most likely to protect it.
I took some pictures with the stand off, carol will post them here when she gets a chance. I used 3/16 thick alum. diamond plate, I shaped it and sized it based on the shape and design of the stand platform. I had the edges bent to a 30 degree angle and put holes to attach bungees every couple inches. I used a single flathead screw ( 1/2-13 ) to bolt thru the kayak with large washers and a locking nut to attach the side closest to the passenger compartment. On the other side, I used a 2x4 as a spacer and cut the shape of the kayak in it to a tight fit and then secured with a heavy bungee around the bottom of the kayak.

Cool design Dan. I have often wanted to do that with my kayak as well.
How about you just get a bow sling (or a bungee cord) and just sling your bow over your back as you paddle? I have several spots that would be awesome for a kayak b/c it would significantly reduce my entrance noise to my stand areas.

That is a pretty cool setup! To practice towing a deer out you should get a volunteer (Carol) and strap her down like a deer.....just for an experiment :).

For some reason I don't think that would be a fun experiment

That 3/16" diamond plate must be fairly heavy even though it's aluminum. It would be nice to find some type of light weight composite material to make it out of.
Also, I noticed that when you go high tech you go all out. I see your into the new weight forward technology. (your belly!)
