Later this week I will be testing my yak out with added weight of a deer(sand bags) and my bow and climber and see how it handles

So will a kayak actually get you in places that you cannot get to with a canoe? A canoe is much easier to use and typically has a weight rating high enough to carry you and a deer.

I know I can maneuver my kayak way easier than my old canoe. My kayak has a 550 lb weight limit so I am really not worried but the spot I am hunting is a river and don't want to find out that I do have a problem in November when the water is freezing.I just heard from a friend that lives down river from the island and can dock at his house if the water is raging.

Yes, I can get my kayak thru ditches and creeks that a canoe would not make it down. My kayak is only 6 feet long and I can push over patches of solid mud you couldn't float my canoe over.
