Re: Best deer book youve read?
As far as hunting strategies go, Vales book is probably my favorite, that thing is a textbook! Real world whitetails behavior by Jim Roy, Hunting the 4 stages of the rut by dick idol, moon phase whitetail hunting by jeff murray(lots of myles keller input in that one)
These are the ones I can read over and over and get good ideas every time just about.

Proven Whitetail Strategies and aggressive white tail hunting, both by Greg Miller. Very informative and is loaded with practical advice that does work.

Hal Blood Big Woods Bucks.
A fairly quiet Mainey-ack similar to the Benoit style.

Good book though, I could lend you my copy for a few months?

Gjs4, you named every one of my favorite authors. Steve Bartylla has some good books on whitetail hunting strategies.

Re: Best deer book youve read?
If I start reading these books, I would spend less time here. Any chance of one or more of you picking one of the books, make the title a thread. Whoever starts it could put an overview of the book and maybe see what kinda discussion gets going.
We had a series of discussions on here last summer on individual BEASTs being called out on their tactics and they were pretty informational threads.

Re: Best deer book youve read?
Whitetail Advantage, Understand Deer behavior for Hunting success, Dr. David Samuel and Robert Zaiglin
It's the only book that I've read so far that I'd recommend.

Re: Best deer book youve read?
A few of my favorites are:
How to Bag the Biggest Buck of your Life by Larry Benoit
Big Bucks the Benoit Way by Bryce Towsley
Stalking and Still Hunting: The Ground Hunters Bible by G. Fred Asbell
Hunting Big Woods Bucks (vol 1 and 2) by Hal Blood
Tracking Whitetails: Answers to your Questions by Paul C. Carter
Still hunting Trophy Whitetails by Bill Vaznis
I would recommend all these books, especially if you like to still hunt, track or stalk the big woods. There are others as well that I've enjoyed by Greg Miller, Brad Herndon and others.

Re: Best deer book youve read?
Hunting Pressured Whitetails by John Eberhardt.
I've read a lot of hunting books and this was the first that spoke to me on the terms I hunt. I don't agree with everything John does or believes in but he has very similar strategies to how I like to hunt.

I read a porition of the Lakosky book... it was spot on in what I have experienced it trying to shoot older bucks
