Anyone ever make home made licking branch ?

Seems I've read an article once where a guy made his own licking branch by tie wrapping a branch onto a tree that had no branches.... if I remember right, I think he took a cedar branch & either bungied it, or tied it onto a tree tree trunk that didn't offer any branches...

Just wondering if any of you have ever tried this? I have a fieldedge where I want to run a camera, but there just are no good tree's overhanging that field edge. I'm thinking about driving a rod into the ground, & then take a 4 or 5 foot branch & tie it onto the rod, so it's hanging out towards the field....
Am I crazy for giving this a try ?

Yes that can work, also read of guys burying pvc tube on an angle and just sliding the branch in. Also guys on Iowa forum(several links from threads on this site) are just burying poles/tree's in key locations for rubbing/scraping. Look for posts made by Mike on here.

a bare dirt circle 3-5' in diameter below any branch coming down to about 4 feet above the ground will work....the bigger the branch the better....out them on edges- or travel hotspots..check dans thread.....the qdma approach is not needed or more effective
