Rubbing posts
I have been using rubbing posts next to most of my tree stands for the past couple years. It is a great way to get a buck to stop in range IMO. If you are hunting a larger open area or semi open area how do you get that buck to come within range? Well I think this can help bring them in, and mine have been getting hit big time.

They have cool pics but I don't think you need to buy one of those to get results :)

Re: Rubbing posts
Nice, are you putting gland scent on the posts to get them started?

No I put contrast on them using pine tar...I darken the top and bottom then leave the middle bright colored at normal rub height. I put cedar oil on the light part. That seems to be enough to draw them in, then they scent them up for me :)

Re: Rubbing posts
Some great bucks you have there! Ive seen alot of people going to this concept as a way to get bucks to stick around and mingle a little more by them constantly coming and going leaving their scent behind wanting to be dominant

Re: Rubbing posts
I do the same thing with cedar trees and a hatchet when I find one. Cedar posts are expensive. Ive read that farms in the midwest have started to use corner posts on replacements because they get rubbed so much its hard to keep them up.

Re: Rubbing posts
Though i do not see them as much in NY, I see areas of buck territory overlaps that have bushes or various trees in the same area
Todd in one of the WKP vids had some horizontal posts used too...

No I am all over my property thru early august or so, based on my cameras deer usually check out what I do within 24 hours and are back to normal in about 3 days or so, even in bedding areas. I actually used spray paint to create contrast on 2 posts last year to see if they would still hit it and they did. A couple of the posts we never put scent or contrast on did not get hit the first year, but they started hitting them the 2nd and 3rd years, guess they figured out what it was for eventually.
A guy on the iowa whitetail board puts out willows and has some awesome results...his get hit within 24 hours and the more scent he leaves the faster they get hit, and wow does he have some monsters coming in daylight hours!

My friend put some of these willows in and the bucks destroyed them and ripped a couple out of the ground. Here are some clips from one of the ones I did on my land, does and bucks are attracted to them.

Re: Rubbing posts
All the cuddeback pics are from the cuddeback website, not mine. We owned one but I was not impressed. I like the small cams, bushnell trophy cam is my favorite for size, battery, and reliability. I'm still using predators because I was able to get some great deals on them, but if they get messed up there is no servicing them though because the company is no more, I like them but wish they lasted longer with a set of batteries.
