In this pic the buck is facing the log (which is usually to its back)

Hard to say for sure, but this buck doesn't appear to be watching his back trail.

This is uncommon in my area. The buck often bed with the wind to their back and eyes on their back trail. Once again, the only rule is that there is no rules.

I have seen both... They often wind there bed and then hook around and watch the hook. Especially older bucks.

I have seen velvet bucks in buildings quite a bit, not sure if it's due to heat or bugs or what. I haven't seen any building pics with hard antler.
