Re: 2012 Hunting Vacation
It's posts like this that remeind me of how good I have it at my job.
Because I'm the boss, I take time when I want for as long as I want (within reason) and if during my scheduled time off the weather is to crappy to hunt or I want a day away from the treestand, I wonder in to work and save a day.
I'll be headed to Idaho for a couple weeks in September for elk and mule deer and then back to Michigan with some 2-3 day trips to southern Ohio mixed in the rest of the fall.
Oh...Ontario beckons in 2 weeks for walleyes!
Life is good.

Re: 2012 Hunting Vacation
I have off the first few weeks of November. Thinking about skipping gun hunting this year and adding those vacation days to bowhunting instead. I have always wanted to take the first week of the season off to hunt the bucks while they are still in their summer patterns.

Re: 2012 Hunting Vacation
Sounds good. I always revolved my life around bow hunting season. I still do, but have more time to distribute my time now than I did when I was working.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: 2012 Hunting Vacation
That's great Bucky!! I have the week of Oct.22nd, Nov.5th, and muzzleloader season off. Would like to move up that last week to get gun season or another bow week. So far nothing has opened up and then I still need to play the seniority game!!

Re: 2012 Hunting Vacation
Just getting back from a South Dakota hunting trip (2 vacation days), have a May 21 Lake Michigan chartered fishing trip planned (one vacation day) then a Wyoming archery elk hunt trip Sept 1 (14 vacation days). I'm sure I'll take some days off to bow hunt the Iowa rut. I have about 12 weeks of vacation banked at the moment.

I'm with you Dewey. I've kinda been considering the exact thing myself. Seems every year that first week the bucks are still pretty active in daylight . You hunt the opening weekend and by the time you get back out the next week it's too late.
