Do you hunt red oak areas?

Bump. Great thread

Should print this out and show it to my dad. Still trying to get him off the "have to sit in the middle of a huge oak stand and hope I get lucky" train. Kind of feel like I'm beating a dead horse that is content with where it is at this point.

What do you do when you can't find oaks in isolation? That seems to be the problem in the region I hunt. You either have large swatches of Oaks (red or white) and very little in isolation (either single or small clusters). My experience has been sitting over them early season has been a waste of time. Or should I rethink that?

I have been known to put acorns out in a spot that worked for the tree I'm in. A coworker has a Swamp Oak that produces big acorns and its related to white oak. Deer love it.
