I took a well known outdoor writer out to the public marsh a few years ago who wanted to experience and write about my style of hunting. The guy was younger than me, and an experienced outdoorsman.
He kept asking how much further every couple hundred yards like a little kid, at one point with a crazy look on his face asked if we were lost... He got so worked up he puked. When I got him to his tree he wanted me to stay with him and was worried about me leaving him there, and said he would never find his way out if I don't come back... He asked if I knew how to find him again.
I think this style of hunting is not for everyone, but rather for a select few who prefer to work and play hard.
Someone commented on a recent thread I made about buying and hunting out of a Kayak and suggested it probably won't work for me cause I will likely get wet... I can't remember to many hunts in the marsh where I stayed dry.
This is a great post and i can relate to it, only it would be the opposite. I find it hard to get motivated to head further upstate into big woods. I go out and spend the day scouting and find an area way back in the woods. Then i walk out from there and realize it wouldd be tough for me to put that much effort and walking into one sit, when i can stay in the mor urban areas where there are mor big bucks and no spot is more than a 30-40 minute walk from the car.
I really dont mind putting on the miles to scout and spend my off season in the woods. But when hunting season gets here and i start hunting hard and gettinf burnt, those hour and a half walks to my tree probrably arent going to happen.
