I'll have to say it does vary by area and what's available... It does seem on any property I've looked at that if there's a cedar its been rubbed... Now in all the areas I hunt the tree species that have been mentioned most holds true... But on the property and woods surrounding were I grew up there is a lot of young maple trees and they are by far the most hit trees... I also find a lot of rubs on sumac in this area... 5 miles down the road its more the other species mentioned

Cedars, Sumac and River Willows.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Popples. Basswoods, maples, cedars, pines, buck brush or whatever It's called and some ash.
A few others made some good points about certain bucks just liking one tree type. One In particular about 15 years ago would only hit Ironwood tree's. Never have I saw Ironwood tree's hit before or after this. I would've loved to see this buck. He hit the same group of Ironwood tree's for 4 years straight. The last year he hit these Ironwoods the tree was about 9 Inches In diameter at almost chest (man boob) level.
