This thread is to show off the picture I took over the weekend. Check out the rubs. . . It's like that all along the road.

1600 acres owned by one man right next to my house. . . All 1600 acres surrounded by a fence and posted. He has taken 3 190+ bucks out of there, and many more over 150" - rumor has it. I've seen some beasts driving home in the dark, including a 17 pointer around Christmas time!!

Apparently he lets NO ONE hunt the land except his sons when they come home and a friend or two - only with bow (as rumor has it). He also apparently has a couple "patrollers" checking on his property for tresspassing security.

How nice it must be. . .

He's made of some money, but he's up there in age. From what I hear, outside of protecting his land (which I'd do, too!) he's a good ol' boy.

Regarding the property, about the only way I'll ever own something like that is if I win the lottery...

Sam, any chance any of those Beast Bucks would come onto your property or some other neighbor's where you might get permission to hunt? Man, it would be hard to take seeing rubs and bucks like that next door!

It's a bitter-sweet deal. He literally owns every huntable portion of land around me, except for 2 small peices that I'll have to look further into.

I can tell everyone wants to get in there, every time I see him at the tavern he's having drinks bought for him, etc. . . Than again, maybe their just repaying a gesture from his end sometime earlier - but interestingly enough, there's always a crowd of gentlemen in camo around him. Networking. . .

Bitter I can't hunt it, but sweet I get to see these deer.

Where is this Eutopia of yours? Sounds like the hunting set up I have, no kidding, rich old guy, bar... but he buys me drinks and lets me hunt ( bow only) the property.

I would be more proud of a public land 150 incher than a private land 190. When i was younger i used tell myself that i would own a lot of land someday. Now, i really don't care. You see these guys on Tv with a couple pope and young bucks in the field at once, and there trying to decide which one to shoot. Your average guy knows that this is not realistic for most people. Just like mentioned in the "About Us" section on the website. Some of your best hunters are the hunters that do not have all the best land and equipment.
